My teacher, my mentor, my friend
Dearest Matt, When I first heard that you had been unwell and that it could be serious, I just didn't want to believe it...not Matt...not my eternal mentor, the man whom I regard as the most significant teacher in my life. It took me 3 weeks to work-up the courage to get in-touch with you since it has been well over 6 years since we last spoke. Yet, your voice, your words and your spirit have never left me. As I am now living my dream of working as a counsellor (in Australia) for the AIDS Council of New South Wales (ACON), I often, if not daily, refer to your lessons shared through your ministry, workshops and retreats. It is with unconditional regard, RESPECT and gratitude that I refer to you by name, adding the significance you have had in my own healing, development and purpose - or as you often referred to as "intention". After working at ACON for over 5 years, I am now preparing to embark on an exciting, new journey. I am about to open my own counselling practice whilst continuing my work with ACON on a part-time basis. My intention to continue working closely with people affected by HIV/AIDS as well as remind and inspire my clients to remember and own who he/she is, honouring the qualities unique to their respective worlds. I include this update about my own life in part because I too have been challenged with what felt like overwhelming conditions, often falling to my knees in tears with no words left to express my grief and despair. Simply, it SUCKS! Be that as it may, I am so grateful to my partner, Michael for never losing hope and never doubting my fear. He allowed me the luxury to just be. As I learned more about your situation, I felt increasingly compelled to reach-out with the intention of letting you know all this and more. Further, I will begin contributing financially as my personal expression of thanks and love to you, my teacher, my mentor...my friend. Of course, I would love to hear from you but sincerely understand the challenges of dealing with a limited capacity of energy. Instead, all I ask is that you continue to absorb all the love and energy being directed at you and your loved ones. Indeed, I remember Peggy Lynn, Joseph, Gregg, Joanne and Kelly...please say hello a great big "HEY" from me. Finally, if ever you need an ear to bend, please know that I am here for you...and, fingers crossed, will be visiting SF in Dec '09, at which time I would love to see you again. Sending positive energy and love
Hi Matt! Greetings from the East Coast! Now, you don't know me, nor I you, but I came upon your site quite by "accident." I am in a situation where I feel despair and hopelessness and I was online looking for some prayers for positivity and positive energy. Something inspired me to your site instead of the others and I am so glad I did! Please don't think I'm totally crazy, (I like to think I'm fairly sane!) but your love jumps out of the page at me in every word and every picture I see of you. Your story has given me hope and a feeling of positivity that I can get through my situation without total despair and without giving up. I will be more aware of those around me and the love they give and get out of my own head, which I think is bringing me down. I will pray for you and Gregg and everyone that surrounds you and I will send as much positive energy that I can! Thank you for this beautiful site, and I hope you don't think me intrusive.
